Richmond has one of the highest crime rates in California, including youth gang violence. We provide a safe haven where children and teenagers have the opportunity to study, play and see themselves as an integral part of society.

We run one of only three free after-school programs in North Richmond for students, ages 6 to 18.
Our staff and volunteers provide a nurturing environment during the critical hours of 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., when many parents are at work and youth are more likely to get into trouble.
Activities include a computer lab, homework assistance and creative projects for approximately 50 young people a day.
Each year, our free summer camp is host to about 150 Richmond children, ages 6 to 12. In collaboration with the City of Richmond's Shields-Reid Community Center, we offer fun and healthy summer activities, including organized sports, group games, cooking, arts and crafts, music and dance classes and field trips.

T.W.A.S. is a peer group that empowers high school youth to break down stereotypes and to collaborate for positive change.
The program creates a safe and supportive atmosphere for developing young community leaders through workshops, community service projects, life skills training and an emphasis on academic achievement.
These programs are funded primarily through a contract with Contra Costa Employment and Human Services.
