MISSION

Friday Night Live and Club Live build partnerships for positive and healthy youth development and engage youth as active leaders in their communities.

WHAT ARE FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE AND CLUB LIVE?

Friday Night Live (FNL) is designed for high school youth. It is motivated by youth-adult partnerships that create powerful activities to enhance and improve local communities. FNL youth work closely with other school and community groups doing similar work throughout the county, thus making FNL a true partnership.

Club Live (CL) is an extension of the FNL program and is aimed at middle school students. CL fosters resiliency and protective factors through the development of action-oriented chapters. Young people work together with adults to plan and implement positive activities.

WHO SPONSORS THIS PROGRAM?

The Contra Costa County Friday Night Live Partnership is funded by Contra Costa Health Services, Alcohol and Other Drugs Services Division. Some school districts provide stipends to teachers who become adult advisors for the Friday Night Live or Club Live chapter at their school. The FNL county office is located at the Center for Human Development in Pleasant Hill.

WHY THE FRIDAY NIGHT LIVE PROGRAM?

Research shows that when young people are in places rich with opportunities and support, they are less likely to engage in problem behaviors. They are more likely to achieve in school and to seek higher education or secure a full time job. FNL provides an environment that challenges youth to grow while satisfying their most basic needs for safety and belonging.
