| MISSION TRIBES is
a process intentionally designed to create a safe environment to foster
the success of the group, be it a classroom, after-school care facility,
support group, sports team, or Scout troop. TRIBES provides a structure
which allows more effective teaching of any curricula. Tribes registration
form. |
|
WHAT ARE TRIBES? TRIBES are small social support groups that meet regularly within the large group. A sequence of activities conducted by the teacher or facilitator promotes cooperation and support within the tribe. TRIBES groups can be used for problem solving, decision making, self-discovery, consensus building, and teaching through peer interaction. |
|
| GOALS OF THE TRIBES PROCESS TRIBES is designed to help people, especially youth, improve in self-image, gain self-confidence, behave more responsibly, and achieve more academically. A recent participant in our three-day TRIBES training wrote:

| TRIBES TRAINING To implement TRIBES most effectively, attendance at our 21-hour training is a must. It makes the process come alive and participants experience the strong connections that can take place in such a safe and supportive environment. The training includes Center for Human Development’s workbook, TRIBES: Creating Community for Working, Learning, and Living. Please contact our Training Center for more information regarding upcoming trainings. |
|
WHY TRIBES? Both research and experience show that everyone can learn and we all have strengths and talents to be nurtured. Involved students have fewer behavior problems. Successful achievement depends on learning in a safe environment that fosters ones self-esteem. |
